International Ferris Wheel Day celebrates The Ferris wheel on February 14th, the birthday of George Washington Gale Ferris Jr. He was an American engineer who invented the first Ferris wheel for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, which was known as the “Chicago Wheel”. Today, Ferris Wheels are a popular attraction all over the world and can be found everywhere from carnivals to festivals and from theme parks to big cities.
